Look at Me. Who Do You See?

Look at Me. Who Do You See? - Britta Stromeyer Esmail

Look at Me. Who Do You See?

"I fell in love with Unice, and you will too in this delightful story that shows that anyone can be who they want to be!"

-Jazz Jennings, author of Being Jazz and star of TLC series I Am Jazz

Everybody thinks Unice is a rhino. What if I tell you she's actually a unicorn? I bet you'll say, "She looks like a rhino. She is a rhino." But Unice doesn't feel like a rhino, and her insides are all mixed-up. She feels trapped . . . until she meets a tiger with glitzy rainbow stripes.

This story will delight all ages celebrating every child's uniqueness. It is a great conversation starter for home and school or for anyone working with young children curious about accepting and nurturing their identities.

Britta Stromeyer Esmail is the author of the award-winning book Raina's (Un)Happy Birthday. Britta earned her MFA at Dominican University in California. She teaches creative writing for ages ten to ninety-nine, inspiring students to find their own voices. She's the proud mom of two children, a nonbinary artist teenager and a budding middle-grade writer. When she's not dreaming, drafting, or discovering new characters and stories, Britta enjoys spending time with her family, horseback riding, and reading everything from picture books to romantic comedies. (She'll admit, though, that she skips the scary stuff, because, well . . . it's scary!) At the end of the day, above all, she prefers unicorns and rainbows.

Joanna Cooke is an illustrator and artist who has produced artwork for numerous picture books, including Britta's first book, Raina's (Un)Happy Birthday. A member of the Society for Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, she also participates in local exhibitions, selling her original artwork and prints. Jo grew up in South Africa and lived most of her life in Cape Town. There, she raised her son and daughter, who now work as a film editor and an environmental expedition guide, respectively. Today she lives in South West Kerry, Ireland, where she teaches art to artists of all ages. Her favorite way to spend a day off is exploring rock pools and walking the local beaches with her little dog, Hamish.
