The Yukon Oasis: The true story of my life in an Eskimo Village
The Yukon Oasis: The true story of my life in an Eskimo Village
I spent a total of thirty-plus years living in Alaska, everywhere from Barrow, which is way up at the very top of the state, right on the Arctic ocean where the polar bears live, to Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. I moved there with my family back in 1974 during the days when the Trans Alaska Pipeline was being built. I was ten years old. My dad was a truck driver and hauled cargo between Prudhoe Bay and Valdez. My mother took a lease on a little restaurant called the Milepost Cafe in our little town of Copper Center, right on the Copper river, which was a major stopping point back then for truckers doing the runs from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez.
This is my story.
