Resurrected through strange necromancy, sixteen-year-old Hazel Enda adjusts to her new life and loss of emotions. A mysterious being recruits her to the Evenfall Vigil to protect the city from nocturnal supernatural threats.

Hazel unites with three fearsome outcasts to hunt the criminal mastermind known as "The Alchemist." They must battle monsters, magic, and prejudice to discover the Alchemist's identity and save the kingdom from the mastermind's increasingly lethal schemes.
